Classrooms & Curriculum

Each child has his or her own particular learning style and rate of development therefore, our emphasis is on meeting the needs of each individual child. Our basic curriculum philosophy is "Children Learn Through Play." Each classroom has a planned environment.
The toys, equipment and activity centers are designed to help each child develop certain concepts and skills that will form the foundation upon which they will build throughout the years in educational facilities and beyond.
Our approach encourages positive self-esteem, problem solving, decision making and individual responsibility.

Our Curriculum includes:
  • The Creative Curriculum used in all classes
  • On-Site 'Play Spanish' with Ms. Claudia (ages 3 and up; included in tuition)
  • On-Site 'Gymtastics' with Coach Sam (ages 3 and up; included in tuition)
  • On-Site 'Poppy Seed Theater' with Ms. Kay (ages 3 and up; included in tuition)
  • After School Program for children K-5th grade
  • Summer Camp Program for children who have completed Kindergarten through 5th grade

Facilities:
  • Four separate age appropriate playgrounds
  • A secure coded-access entryway

Nutrition:
  • Breakfast, hot lunch and nutritious afternoon snacks prepared on-site in our commercial kitchen.  View our current menu on our 'For Our Parents' page.
  • Participate in the NC Food Program

Staff:
  • All staff are trained annually in CPR/First Aid
  • All employees under go criminal background checks and fingerprinting
  • Staff is provided with on-going Early Childhood Education training

Park Road Baptist CDC is proud to be home of the More at Four program.
M@4 is sponsored by CMS and follows the CMS academic calendar.  This program helps prepare children for the kindergarten school experience.
We have 18 children and 2 teachers on site daily from 8-2.
Teachers practice the OWL (Opening the World of Learning) curriculum which includes themes of:  family, friends, wind and water, the world of color, shadows and reflections and things that grow.

Qualifications must be met for a M@4 placement.  Applications are accepted at the Family Application Center located at 700 Marsh Road, Charlotte, 28209.
